E-Learning Design

Online training saves time and effort - but only

if it's designed with care.

Asynchronous online learning significantly differs from classroom teaching and training or synchronous online learning. When there is no traditional teacher or community, motivation and interaction among participants must be built and maintained by other means. The internet is filled with failed online courses that do not achieve the most important goal of all teaching: learning.

The good news is that expert help is available for creating online courses!

We transform your content into effective and engaging e-learning and assist in all other phases of implementing asynchronous online courses.

Let's find the best solution for you.

The entire course package, consultation over coffee, or something in between?

What kind of assistance do you need? There is no one-size-fits-all recipe for successful online training, and we always tailor our services according to the customer's preferences and needs.

Explore below examples of the solutions Ixir offers for online course design and implementation.

Turnkey Course Package

Ixir takes full responsibility for the entire online course design and implementation, from concept to launch. This includes:

  • Project Management. We lead the project and coordinate all stages. Our clear course process ensures smooth progress without extra effort from your side.

  • Script Writing. We turn your content into an online training format by preparing all course texts, video scripts, and assignments.

  • Learning Design. We design the learning experience to meet the needs of your target audience, ensuring the course is both engaging and effective.

  • Video Production and Illustrations. We handle all multimedia solutions professionally, ensuring a visually appealing and high-quality final product.

  • Technical implementation. We manage the technical implementation and, if needed, help you find the platform that best suits your needs. We tailor the course design to match your visual identity, resulting in a course that reflects your organization's brand and keeps participants engaged.

In turnkey solution your responsibilities are simple:

  • Provide us with background materials, either in writing or through interviews we organize.

  • Review the course script we create.

  • Appear as an expert in course videos.

Pricing

The cost of a turnkey package depends on several factors, including:

  • How extensive is the course? The shortest online courses can be micro-courses, taking at most 15 minutes of participant time, while longer courses last several hours. Naturally, this affects the cost. The number of individualized learning paths also impacts the workload.

  • What kind of source material is available? The script can be created most efficiently if there is already structured background material, such as a guide or a clearly defined content set. However, a course project can also start from just an idea and be developed using various source materials.

  • What types of activities are included in the course? Ixir's course packages can feature different audio and video implementations. All videos are produced by industry professionals, and we collaborate with Finland’s leading experts and production houses specializing in explainer and animation videos.

For reference, a turnkey online course taking approximately 30–45 minutes of participant time starts at €4,900 + VAT.

A more extensive 4–6 hour online course or an academic MOOC starts at €24,900 + VAT.

A compact micro-course (approximately 10–15 minutes) as a turnkey solution starts at €2,900 + VAT. Ask us about micro-course packages as well!

Facilitated Course Process

f your team lacks extensive experience in managing an online course project and navigating the complexities of course development but wants to handle the scripting and design yourselves, a facilitated course process might be the ideal solution.

In a facilitated course process, you gain access to Ixir’s refined and proven course development framework, guided by an expert. A specialist in online pedagogy will provide feedback and support throughout the scripting and learning design phases.

Ixir takes care of project management, leads workshops and meetings, and facilitates the scripting and learning design process. We also coordinate target audience research and testing. However, you remain responsible for course planning and execution, including scripting, creating the implementation plan, designing activities, and building the course on the platform.

Just like in a turnkey package, Ixir’s project lead will guide you through our five-phase course development process, ensuring a structured and efficient workflow.

Pricing

The price of a facilitated online course process depends on factors such as the course's scope.

Facilitating the process of an online course that takes approximately 30–45 minutes of participant time starts at €3,900 + VAT.

For a more extensive course lasting around 4–6 hours, the facilitation process starts at €9,600 + VAT.

Additional services can be included in the facilitated course process, such as:

  • Course video production

  • Illustrations and visual design

  • Course development on a platform or with external tools.

Script Writing and Learning Design

Our experienced e-learning designers can assist you if you need professional support for a specific phase of your online course creation. Ixir specializes in creating engaging course scripts and learning design that considers the needs of the learner and is based on the latest research.

A high-quality online course script motivates the learner

Creating the course script is typically the most time-consuming phase of course development. This stage defines the course content, structures it in a way that supports independent online learning, and refines the language to engage and inspire the target audience.

Professional Learning Design Leads to the Best Learning Outcomes

Learning design refers to the planning of course activities and implementation methods. Professional learning design is always tailored to the course's target audience, content, and learning objectives, drawing on research in learning psychology and related fields.

Micro-course

Do you have a smaller topic, a specific product, concept, or research finding that you’d like to communicate through an online course? Would you like participants to absorb essential information in the time it takes for a coffee break?

A micro-course, sometimes referred to as a micro-learning module or micro online course, is a highly compact learning experience—typically just one section or module long. It utilizes the same formats as full-length online courses, combining video, audio, text-based activities, and interactive tasks or scenario-based exercises.

Micro-courses are ideal for presenting a single topic, such as a product or concept. They can be used for sales or after-sales product presentations, as a replacement for traditional PDF manuals or video tutorials, or to communicate research findings or explain key concepts.

Research shows that micro-courses are more effective than content presented solely in text or video format. They also allow for knowledge retention verification if needed. Additionally, multiple micro-courses can be combined into a broader online course.

A typical micro-course takes no more than 15 minutes for participants to complete in one sitting. Because of its compact nature, it can often be delivered without the need for a dedicated learning platform.

Or do you need a consultant?

Perhaps the best fit for your needs would be the support of a skilled training consultant. Ixir’s experienced online training expert is available for any tasks requiring online training expertise, either on a daily rate or a long-term agreement.

We also offer tailored training sessions and consultation workshops related to online learning.
